I Promise
God did you really say …..
This sounds like one of the phrases we use most. Don't feel offended I use it too, more times than I can remember. There are times that my faith is shaken to the core. It becomes easy to doubt God or rather his promises of truth for temporary mental satisfaction rather than wait on Him.
Remember Mary, yes the mother of Jesus, Imagine this with me here. She's pledged to be married, an Angel suddenly shows up and tells her she's going to be pregnant virgin. Most theologians think that she was between 12- 14 years of age by then. She was young and yet highly favored of the Lord.
Luke 1:30 But the angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. 31 You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus.32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end.'
I think that she expected everything to be rosy, If I knew I was carrying the most important pregnancy ever then I know I would be taken care of throughout the pregnancy more like how surrogacy works right? But things weren't this simple. I imagine she had a normal pregnancy with nausea and vomiting, tiredness and so forth. The icing of the cake comes when she wants to deliver and there's no room/inn to deliver in. Am sure Joseph tried walking around to all the nearby inns but all he got were stares, no one understood why he chose to stick around with a girl that got pregnant before being married. He had thought about divorcing her quietly but an Angel appeared to him.
Matthew 1:18 This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about[a]: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. 19 Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet[b] did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,[c] because he will save his people from their sins.”
Most times what God says about us is never a straight road. Once we hear His promises we are excited and happy to get those blessings. Then the rubber meets the road and that's when we realize it was never meant to be that simple. I know there are things that God did speak to you for 2020. You look back and none of His words have been fulfilled and you ask yourself "God did you really say that....."
I am still holding on to God's promises years after the words were spoken, at times I want to throw in the towel when things get so tough and ask God did you really say that you'll give me this mountain, didn't you promise to walk with me until the end of time.
I don't know what promises God has told you about your family, marriage, career, children or business. But one thing that I know is that Isaiah 55:11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. However when the road gets bumpier
and people say something nasty, I want you to just do one thing Hold on tight.
I might not have everything that I thought I'd have this year, one thing that keeps me going is the fact that God has enabled me to see another new day, that simply means He ain't done with me yet. He still has great plans with my life. I promise to Hold on tight to your word, because Numbers 23:19 God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? He always show up on time. At times people around you will wonder what's wrong with you. They say there's a thin line between having Faith in God and stupidity. I choose to look stupid as I wait on God. Whenever things get so rough I encourage myself with Proverbs 10:22The blessing of the LORD makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.
As we count down to 2021, I still believe that God is not limited, He can still do the unimaginable for you. Remember in His own time he makes things beautiful (Ecclesiastes 3:11) I Promise to Hold on tight so help me God.
